USAID: Protect water defender Bertha Zuñiga and pull funding from the destructive Agua Zarca dam!
–Sign a petition to have USAID pull funding from the Agua Zarca dam that Bertha is defending

-Call on the Honduran authorities to ensure protection for Consejo Cívico de Organizaciones Populares e Indígenas de Honduras (COPINH) leaders and environmental defenders!
-On June 30, four men with machetes attacked a vehicle in which, Bertha Zuñiga leader of COPINH—as well as two other members — were traveling. Bertha and her colleagues survived this attack. However, this incident illustrates the dangers that environmental activists face in Honduras, and also, the almost complete impunity that exists for such attacks. Similarly, in March 2016, Bertha’s mother, Berta Cáceres, was murdered in her home for opposing the hydroelectric projects in the Gualcarque river basin.
-Honduras is the most dangerous country in the world for environmental defenders. Join us in asking the Government of Honduras to take responsibility for ensuring the protection of COPINH, its leaders and members, and all other human rights defenders in Honduras.
